The summer doldrums are here and I cannot find a soupçon of enthusiasm in my heart for a post about the reflecting pool fiasco or the Great American Mall Vacancy so instead I’m stealing the classic Lost and Found bit from Tom Scocca and Joe MacLeod’s Indignity which is still mostly on hiatus, at least until Bari takes over CNN.
LOST: Gracie the giraffe, circa June 12th from Cedar Hollow Ranch, a leaky exotic animal facility in Leakey, Texas. “Gracie didn't behave like a normal giraffe. Instead of staying in the area of the ranch where the giraffes are fed, Gracie decided to forage on higher terrain and climbed rocks to escape,” reported Jeanine Santucci in USA Today. Who among us doesn’t dream of climbing rocks to escape?
FOUND: Gracie the giraffe, on June 26th. The New York Times’ Victor Mather reported that the rambling ruminant was found “just four miles from the ranch… ‘fat and happy’” according to the Sheriff of Real County, Texas, a real county in Texas. As of yesterday Gracie is back home and planning another getaway later in the fall, perhaps to Ibiza.

We stan an adventurous queen with elegant legs and the perfect smoky eye. (photo via Real County Sheriff's Office / FOX Local)
