Am I too proud to try out whatever new social media garbage comes along? First of all: no, and second: even if I had any self-respect I’d feel professionally obligated. So yesterday I swallowed my lack of pride and begged for a Blue Sky invite, and oomf (who shall remain anonymous to avoid whatever blame comes of opening the velvet rope to the likes of me) came through. The interface is basically a simpler Twitter, with a lot fewer users. It does have working search and post quoting, the two major missing features from Mastodon, but not much else besides the basics. For Tabs subscribers today: my observations from about 18 hours of Blue Sky experience, and an open thread about how we’re all dealing with the collapse of social media.
